YouTube
Time: 3 minutes. How it works: each post day, at the YouTube time, the post's moving-gallery video (the same as TikTok's) is uploaded as a public Short. The title is the post's first line; the description adds your "About" text, website and hashtags. The music is the one chosen for videos in Business and platforms > Extras (or for that post in Write a post): see guide 04, "Choose the music".
Connect
- In the app, open Connections > YouTube and Google Business Profile. It says it uses SocioRelay's own app.
- Press Log in to YouTube. Choose the Google account, then the channel (not the personal account) if asked.
- While Google reviews SocioRelay's app it may say "Google hasn't verified this app": click Advanced, then Go to SocioRelay.
- Tick Select all, then Continue. Connections shows Channel: and your channel's name.
- Press Upload a test Short. It uploads an unlisted test video and shows its link. In YouTube Studio > Content it should say Unlisted. Delete the test video.
If the test video says Private, email info@sociorelay.com: new apps are sometimes limited until YouTube's audit.
Your own developer app (optional, advanced)
Only needed if Connections asks you for keys instead of offering Log in, or if you'd rather use your own developer app. Paste its keys in Connections, press Save keys, then Log in. Use your app's callback address shown in Connections (for example https://your-business.app.sociorelay.com/callback).
Step 1: Create a Google Cloud project
- Go to https://console.cloud.google.com and sign in with the Google account that owns the YouTube channel.
- Click the project picker at the top, then New project. Name it, for example "Our Business Publisher". Click Create.
Step 2: Turn on the YouTube API
- Open APIs & Services > Library.
- Search for YouTube Data API v3, open it and click Enable.
Step 3: Set up the consent screen
- Open Google Auth Platform (OAuth consent screen).
- Branding: app name, support email, home page, privacy policy and terms addresses. Click Save.
- Audience: User type External. Then click Publish app so the status says In production. (Left in "Testing", logins stop working after 7 days.)
- Data access > Add or remove scopes: tick
.../auth/youtube.uploadand.../auth/youtube.readonly. If a scope is missing, paste these under Manually add scopes:https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.uploadandhttps://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.readonly. Click Update, then Save. - Google may say verification is needed. You can ignore that for your own account: the login just shows a warning.
Step 4: Create the login keys
- Open Credentials > Create credentials > OAuth client ID.
- Application type: Web application.
- Authorised redirect URIs: add your app's callback address, shown in Connections (for example
https://your-business.app.sociorelay.com/callback). - Click Create. Copy the Client ID and Client secret.
Step 5: Connect in the app
- Connections > YouTube and Google Business Profile: paste both. Press Save keys.
- Press Log in to YouTube. Choose the Google account, and the channel if asked.
- On "Google hasn't verified this app", click Advanced, then Go to ... (unsafe). It is your own app.
- Tick every box (or Select all), then Continue.
- Press Upload a test Short. It uploads an unlisted test video and shows its link.
- In YouTube Studio > Content, it should say Unlisted. Delete the test video.
Good to know
- One Short a day per business is plenty; YouTube limits uploads per day.
- YouTube checks the music. SocioRelay's own tracks are cleared for your videos. Music you do not have the rights to can be blocked, muted or earn your channel a copyright strike, so upload only music you own or have licensed.
