Google Business Profile

Time: 3 minutes, once available. What it posts: an update for each post (on the Google days and time), with the image and, for blog promotions, a Learn more button. Very useful for local businesses: updates show on your Google Maps and search listing.

Status

Google must approve SocioRelay's access to Business Profiles before anyone can connect. We'll email you as soon as it opens. Until then, add updates by hand: Business Profile > Add update (you can copy the text from Scheduled posts).

Connect (once available)

  1. Your Business Profile must be verified, and you must be its Owner or Manager.
  2. In the app, open Connections > YouTube and Google Business Profile. If the Google account manages several businesses, type this one's exact name in Business Profile name and press Save keys.
  3. Press Log in to Google Business. Tick every box. The window shows the connected profile.
  4. In Business and platforms, make sure Google Business Profile is ticked, with the days and time you want.

Your own developer app (optional, advanced)

Only needed if Connections asks you for keys instead of offering Log in, or if you'd rather use your own developer app. Paste its keys in Connections, press Save keys, then Log in. Use your app's callback address shown in Connections (for example https://your-business.app.sociorelay.com/callback).

Step 1: Check you qualify

  1. Your Business Profile must be verified and active for at least 60 days.
  2. You need the Google Cloud project from guide 06 Steps 1 and 3.

Step 2: Apply for API access

  1. In Google Cloud, click the project picker and note the project number (not the name).
  2. Search for "Google Business Profile API access request" and open Google's official contact form.
  3. Choose Application for Basic API Access.
  4. Give the project number, your website and the email that manages the Business Profile.
  5. Describe the use honestly: "We manage our own Business Profile. Our tool publishes updates that we write."
  6. Wait for Google's email. If refused, check the 60-day rule and apply again. Keep the case number.

Step 3: After approval, turn on the APIs

  1. In Google Cloud, open APIs & Services > Library.
  2. Enable My Business Account Management API, My Business Business Information API and Google My Business API.
  3. Google Auth Platform > Data access: add the scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/business.manage. Save.

Step 4: Connect with your own keys

  1. Use the Client ID and Secret from your own Google project (guide 06, your own developer app).
  2. If the Google account manages several businesses, type this one's exact name in Business Profile name. Press Save keys.
  3. Press Log in to Google Business. Tick every box. The window shows the connected profile.
  4. In Business and platforms, make sure Google Business Profile is ticked, with the days and time you want.

Good to know

  1. Google rejects updates with phone numbers in the text. The app checks blog promotions for this.
