Pinterest

Time: 5 minutes. Pins are made automatically from your post images and blog headers.

Business account and boards

  1. Use a Pinterest business account (Settings > Account management > Convert to business).
  2. In the app: Business and platforms > Extras > Pinterest boards. One board per line: Board name | description | words that send a post here for example Hair ideas | Cuts and colours we love | colour|cut|style.
  3. Press Save settings. Boards are created automatically when you log in.

Connect

  1. In the app, open Connections > Pinterest. It says it uses SocioRelay's own app.
  2. Press Log in and approve while signed in to the business Pinterest account. Your boards are created.

While Pinterest reviews SocioRelay's app, you can log in but pins can't be published yet: daily pins wait (and are skipped once a day late), blog pins wait until they can post. We'll email you when publishing opens.

Your own developer app (optional, advanced)

Only needed if Connections asks you for keys instead of offering Log in, or if you'd rather use your own developer app. Paste its keys in Connections, press Save keys, then Log in. Use your app's callback address shown in Connections (for example https://your-business.app.sociorelay.com/callback).

Step 1: Create the app

  1. Go to https://developers.pinterest.com/apps/ and click Connect app.
  2. Describe it honestly, for example: "Internal tool that publishes our own scheduled posts and blog articles as pins to our own business account."
  3. Wait for the Trial access email.

Step 2: Connect

  1. Open the app in the developer portal. Copy the App ID and App secret key.
  2. Under Redirect URIs, add your app's callback address, shown in Connections (for example https://your-business.app.sociorelay.com/callback) and save. (Without it, login fails with "This application has not registered a redirect URI".)
  3. In the app: Connections > Pinterest. Paste both, press Save keys, then Log in.

Step 3: Apply for Standard access (your own app only)

  1. In the developer portal, open your app and click Generate token for the Sandbox. Copy it.
  2. In the app: Connections > Pinterest > Sandbox token. Paste it and press Save keys.
  3. Start a screen recording (Windows: Windows key + Alt + R; Mac: Shift + Command + 5).
  4. Press Sandbox demo pin. The window shows a board and a pin being created.
  5. Stop the recording.
  6. In the developer portal, click Upgrade to Standard access, fill in the form and upload the video.

Good to know

  1. Pins are tall images (1000 x 1500) made automatically from each post image and each blog header, with your website at the bottom.
  2. Daily pins more than a day late are skipped (normal while waiting for Standard access). Blog pins wait until they can post.
