Help centre · Guide 01
Time: 2 minutes. Posts to: your personal profile. Company pages: see below.
Connect
- Sign in to LinkedIn in your browser with the account that will post.
- In the app, open Connections > LinkedIn. It says it uses SocioRelay's own app: there are no keys to copy.
- Press Log in (personal profile), then Allow. The LinkedIn label turns green.
Posting as a company page
LinkedIn must approve SocioRelay's access to company pages (applied for; it usually takes a few weeks). Until then, posts go to your personal profile, which is often what gets the most reach anyway. Once approved, press Log in (company page) and choose your page in Business and platforms > Brands > LinkedIn: post as. If you can't wait, you can use your own company page app (below).
Your own developer app (optional, advanced)
Only needed if Connections asks you for keys instead of offering Log in, or if you'd rather use your own developer app. Paste its keys in Connections, press Save keys, then Log in. Use your app's callback address shown in Connections (for example https://your-business.app.sociorelay.com/callback).
Before you start
- Sign in to LinkedIn with the account that will post.
- You need a LinkedIn Company Page where that account is an admin. Every developer app must belong to one.
Step 1: Create the app
- Go to https://www.linkedin.com/developers/apps and click Create app.
- App name: for example "Our Business Scheduler".
- LinkedIn Page: choose your Company Page.
- Privacy policy URL: your website's privacy page. App logo: your logo.
- Tick the legal agreement and click Create app.
Step 2: Verify the app
- Open the Settings tab.
- Click Verify next to the Company Page and open the link (or send it to a Page admin).
- Click Verify on that page.
Step 3: Add the products
- Open the Products tab.
- Click Request access for Share on LinkedIn. Tick the agreement.
- Click Request access for Sign In with LinkedIn using OpenID Connect.
- Both are approved straight away.
Step 4: Add the redirect address
- Open the Auth tab.
- Under Authorized redirect URLs for your app, click the pencil, then Add redirect URL.
- Type your app's callback address, shown in Connections (for example
https://your-business.app.sociorelay.com/callback) and click Update. - Copy the Client ID, and the Primary Client Secret (click the eye icon to show it).
Step 5: Connect in the app
- In the app, open Connections > LinkedIn.
- Paste the Client ID and Client Secret. Press Save keys.
- Press Log in (personal profile). A browser window opens.
- Click Allow. The app shows "Saved personal token". The LinkedIn label turns green.
Company page with your own app
- Create a second app (Steps 1 to 2). LinkedIn only gives the Community Management API to an app with no other products.
- Products tab: request Community Management API. Describe the use honestly: "Posting our own content to our own company page from our internal scheduling tool."
- Wait for approval (days to weeks). Then add the same redirect address (Step 4).
- In Connections > LinkedIn, paste this app's Client ID and Secret into the Company page app fields. Save, then press Log in (company page).
- The window lists your pages with their ids. In Business and platforms > Brands, set LinkedIn: post as to the page id.
Good to know
- LinkedIn logins last 60 days. You get an alert 10 days before. Press Log in again to renew.
- Posts can be up to 3,000 characters. Images: PNG or JPG under 8 MB.
