Blog - WordPress
Time: 5 minutes. Works with: self-hosted WordPress 5.6 or newer, on https. WordPress.com sites need a plan that allows plugins.
Step 1: Create an Application Password
- Sign in to your WordPress admin (yoursite.com/wp-admin) with an account that can publish posts (Administrator, Editor or Author).
- Go to Users > Profile (or Users > All users, open your user).
- Scroll to Application Passwords. Type the name "SocioRelay" and click Add New Application Password.
- Copy the password shown (it looks like
abcd efgh ijkl mnop qrst uvwx). It is shown once.- No "Application Passwords" section? Your site may not use https, or a security plugin has turned it off. Ask your web host or developer to enable it.
Step 2: Add the website in the app
- Blog > Add a website. Blogging system: WordPress.
- Website address: for example
https://www.yoursite.com. - WordPress username: the username you signed in with (not the email).
- Application Password: paste it.
- Categories: type them exactly as in WordPress (Posts > Categories). New ones are created when needed.
- Press Save, then Test connection. It should say "Connected to WordPress as (your name)".
Good to know
- Articles publish immediately at their time, with the header image as the featured image.
- If links come out wrong (your permalinks are not "Post name"), set Article address pattern, for example
{url}/blog/{slug}/. - "HTTP 401" or "HTTP 403": check the username and password, or a security plugin (Wordfence, iThemes) blocking the REST API.
