Blog - Umbraco and Craft CMS
Time: 15 minutes. You need: an administrator of the website, usually your developer or agency.
Umbraco (version 14 or newer)
- In the back office: Users > Create > API user. Give it a user group that can create and publish content under the blog. Open it and add Client credentials: note the client id (starts
umbraco-back-office-) and the secret. - Note the document type id of articles (Settings > Document Types > your article type: the id in the address or the Info tab) and the id of the blog page articles go under (Content > blog page > Info).
- Note the alias of the article's rich text property (for example
bodyText). - In the app: Blog > Add a website > Umbraco and fill these in. Press Save, then Test connection.
- Images: Umbraco's API needs a media picker set up by your developer, so articles go without the header image for now. Umbraco makes the address from the title: if links come out wrong, set Article address pattern.
Craft CMS (Pro, with GraphQL)
- GraphQL > Schemas: make a schema that can query and save entries in the blog section (and save assets in the image volume if you want images). GraphQL > Tokens: create a token for it.
- Note the section handle (for example
blog), the save mutation shown in GraphiQL (for examplesave_blog_default_Entry), the body field handle, and if wanted the image volume and image field handles. - The GraphQL address is usually
https://yoursite.com/api(set in config/routes.php). - In the app: Blog > Add a website > Craft CMS and fill these in. Press Save, then Test connection.
